Proportion of women per municipality on the 1st January 2018
Au niveau national, la proportion de femmes (49.7%) est légèrement inférieure à celle des hommes (50.3%). La part des femmes dans la population luxembourgeoise a longtemps été supérieure à celle des hommes. Lors du recensement de la population, des bâtiments et logements de l'année 1981, les femmes représentaient encore 51.2 % de la population nationale. C'est en 2014 que la proportion des hommes a dépassé celle des femmes. La part des hommes est donc en croissance continue depuis plusieurs décennies, ce qui peut s'expliquer par le surplus d'immigrés masculins. En 2017 par exemple, 53.8 % des nouveaux arrivants étaient des hommes contre 46.2 % de femmes.
