Population per municipality on the 1st January 2018

Au 1er janvier 2018, la population totale du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg a dépassé le seuil de 600 000 habitants. En effet, 602 005 personnes ont été comptées au début de cette année dans le Registre National des Personnes Physiques (RNPP). En observant la carte, il ressort très clairement que la population luxembourgeoise ne se répartit pas de manière égale à travers le territoire du pays. La partie sud du Luxembourg, fortement urbanisée, est beaucoup plus peuplée que les régions rurales du centre et du nord du pays. Parmi les dix communes les plus peuplées, sept se situent dans l'agglomération de la Ville de Luxembourg et surtout dans l'ancien bassin minier au sud et sud-ouest du Luxembourg. Au nord, voire centre-nord du pays, seules les communes plus urbaines de Mersch (9 440), d'Ettelbruck (8 735), de Junglinster (7 613), de Wiltz (6 866) et de Diekirch (6 756) connaissent une population supérieure à 6 500 habitants.
